Sherriff Amenity has announced the arrival of Fossil, a phosphite and silicon based nutrient product for foliar application. Fossil is a key element of some of the company’s new disease control packages.
Fossil supports the plants natural defences against disease, reducing stress and promoting recovery.
Rapidly absorbed, the phosphite content in Fossil is effectively distributed into the transport system enabling it to reach all parts of the plant. It also encourages improved turf quality through enhanced rooting; which is achieved by resisting disease pressure from pathogens, that are normally present in the soil and air, allowing stronger, healthier grass to develop.
Silicon plays an integral role in the expression of physiological resistance through the production of a number of chemicals including tannic and phenolic compounds that act fast to neutralise fungi and bacteria. It has also been shown to encourage an upright growth habit and improved wear tolerance.
Recent trials at STRI have shown that Fossil, along with other selected nutritional and adjuvant products, when mixed with certain active ingredients can produce an effective method of disease control, something which Joe Kinder, Technical Manager at Sherriff Amenity, says was vital in bringing Fossil to the market.
“We conducted extensive trials at STRI on the ability of Fossil to support the activity of fungicides, for the suppression and control of Microdochium patch disease, when applied at reduced rates. This has allowed us to confidently promote Fossil as part of our new fungicide strategy and this also includes our first Leaf Spot package, ideally suited to stadium applications.”
Fossil is compatible with a broad range of fertilisers, fungicides and surfactants and is a key product in Sherriff Amenity’s fungicide packages. It can be applied as part of a spray programme at any time of the year and is suitable for application to all types of turf including golf courses, football pitches and bowling greens.
