Large pine weevil can cause considerable damage to young trees, and particularly pine and spruce trees, in forests and woodland. The weevil is known to affect newly planted trees during the first five years after planting or restocking. As the adult beetle feeds on the bark it creates the potential to kill the tree by girdling the stem. On affected sites 50-100% of newly planted conifers can be destroyed in this way.
Lanzarta has a residual activity and controls large pine weevils following ingestion of the active substance. The liquid formulation is quick to dry and binds to the tree bark strongly to prevent wash by rain and ensure long lasting protection.
For best effect, insect activity should be monitored to enable accurate timing of Lanzarta applications.
